Please join the Working Parents Forum for a virtual workshop on Friday May 10, 2024 from 12:00pm - 1:00pm entitled "Raising Responsible Children without Nagging".
Rachel Bailey, a well-known parenting specialist, will speak to our community via Zoom on Friday, May 10 at noon. In this workshop, you'll learn the real reason kids don't listen (it's not what you think!) and how to handle their lack of cooperation effectively and respectfully. Plus, you'll learn specific tips for fostering internal motivation so your children will make responsible decisions, even when you're not there to remind them.
Please register to receive the Zoom link for the virtual workshop. Link will be emailed out prior to the event. Please come with your questions and concerns as our goal is for this to be an interactive session.
About the Speaker: Rachel Bailey is a Parenting Specialist who has been serving families for over a decade. Besides being a mother of two, she also has a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, a certification in Positive Discipline, and has provided services as an ADHD Coach, in-home mentor, and therapist. Through her podcast, programs, and services Rachel teaches parents hands-on tools for raising resilient, confident children and bringing flexibility, peace, and connection to families.
Join the APABA-DC Dragon Boat Team for fun on the water and (potential) glory! We'll be competing in the 2024 Washington DC Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday, May 18, held at the Thompson Boat Center in Georgetown.
A dragon boat consists of 20 paddlers, a drummer, and a steersperson (provided by the festival organizer) working in sync to make the boat fly across the water. No experience needed to join the team! We'll have 1-2 optional practice sessions (4/28 and 5/5, 12pm-1:30pm) before race day so you can become familiar with the boat. You do not need to attend a practice session to participate in the race. Whether you've never picked up a paddle before or you're excited at the thought of overtaking another boat, we encourage you to sign up for a wonderful team-building and networking experience.
We'll provide snacks, lunch, drinks, and a team t-shirt on race day. To join the team, please register. Members: $20; Non-members: $25.
