The Honorable Raymond T. Chen
United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit
The Honorable Raymond T. Chen was nominated by President Barack H. Obama in 2013 to the Federal Circuit and became only the second Asian American judge on that court in over 30 years. From 1998 to 2013, he served in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as an associate solicitor and was promoted to Solicitor in 2008. He represented the USPTO before the Federal Circuit, personally arguing over 30 cases, including In re Bilski. Previously, he served as a Technical Assistant at the Federal Circuit and practiced at a law firm.
